Prenatal Massage

Whether you’re navigating pregnancy or adjusting to life after welcoming a new baby, the physical demands on a mother’s body can be significant. Hormonal changes, shifting posture, and the daily rhythms of caring for an infant often create tension, soreness, and fatigue.

Prenatal and postnatal massage offers supportive, body-aware care to help ease common discomforts such as back and hip tension, swelling, and stiffness. Sessions are adapted to support comfort, circulation, and relaxation during pregnancy, as well as recovery and restoration in the postpartum period, helping you feel more supported as your body moves through these transitions.

Please note: you must be at least 14 weeks pregnant to book prenatal massage.

Prenatal Massage

The Benefits

Prenatal massage is designed specifically for the needs of pregnancy, helping reduce stress on the muscles and joints while calming the nervous system. Sessions can enhance comfort, improve sleep, and support a healthier, more balanced pregnancy experience.

Pelvic Support

Prenatal massage can help ease tension in the hips, low back, and pelvic muscles, supporting comfort as posture and alignment shift.

Sleep Support

Relaxation from prenatal massage can make it easier to rest and enjoy deeper, more restorative sleep during pregnancy.

Swelling Reduction

By supporting circulation and lymphatic movement, prenatal massage can help reduce fluid retention in the legs and feet.

Circulation Support

Prenatal massage encourages healthy blood flow, supporting oxygen and nutrient delivery for both parent and baby.

Stress Relief

Gentle, supportive touch helps calm the nervous system and reduce stress during pregnancy.

Pregnancy Comfort

Prenatal massage helps ease common physical discomforts of pregnancy, supporting greater comfort as the body changes.

Your first visit includes time to talk through your pregnancy journey, physical symptoms, and any specific areas that need extra care. Sessions are shaped with comfort and safety in mind, adapting throughout each trimester to support rest, ease, and overall well-being.

Initial Appointment

Each prenatal visit is designed specifically for pregnancy, with side-lying support, careful pressure adjustments, and attention to swelling, pelvic tension, or back discomfort. Sessions are centered around helping you feel more comfortable and supported as your body changes month to month.

The Session

Pregnancy brings constant change, which is why many people find ongoing hands-on support helpful throughout this journey. Sessions can evolve month to month—responding to posture changes, pelvic pressure, fatigue, or the physical demands of growth.

Following care, a slower pace for the remainder of the day is often recommended. Gentle movement, hydration, and prioritizing rest can help your body integrate the work and feel more supported in the days ahead.

Continued Support & Aftercare

The Science Behind Prenatal Massage

Prenatal massage uses safe, supportive techniques to help regulate the nervous system during pregnancy. Gentle therapeutic touch helps reduce stress, ease muscle tension, and support the body as it adapts to the physical and hormonal changes of pregnancy.

Targeted massage techniques improve circulation and lymphatic flow, helping reduce swelling, stiffness, and discomfort commonly experienced during pregnancy. Increased blood flow supports tissue health, relieves pressure on joints and muscles, and promotes overall physical comfort.

Prenatal and postnatal massage supports emotional well-being by promoting relaxation and relieving physical strain, helping moms feel more balanced and resilient. These treatments are designed to alleviate common aches, support recovery, and help moms stay comfortable and energized for the demands of pregnancy and caring for little ones.

Frequently Asked Questions

The frequency depends on your comfort and needs. Many expectant mothers benefit from every 2–4 weeks, though those experiencing higher levels of discomfort or swelling may choose weekly sessions. Your therapist can create a schedule tailored to your pregnancy and wellness goals.

How often should I go for prenatal massage?

Wear loose, comfortable clothing and use the restroom beforehand. Avoid eating a heavy meal right before your session. Let your therapist know about any medical conditions, pregnancy complications, or discomforts so they can adjust the massage accordingly. Hydration before and after the session is also recommended.

How to prepare for a prenatal massage?

Prenatal massage is generally considered safe up until delivery, though techniques and positioning will change as your pregnancy progresses. Special support pillows and positioning help ensure comfort and safety in the third trimester.

What is the week limit for prenatal massage?

The first trimester is a critical period for fetal development, and the risk of complications, such as miscarriage, is naturally higher. Many practitioners avoid massage during this time as a precaution. After the first trimester, prenatal massage is considered safe when performed by a trained therapist.

Why is prenatal massage not allowed in the first trimester?

Prenatal massages are generally recommended starting in the second trimester (around 14 weeks) when the risk of complications decreases and the pregnancy is more stable. Your practitioner will tailor the massage to your stage of pregnancy to ensure safety and comfort for both you and your baby.

When should you start getting prenatal massages?
