Yes, functional medicine doctors are licensed to diagnose medical conditions using standard tests and assessments, while also evaluating underlying factors that may contribute to the condition. Their goal is to provide a comprehensive, individualized treatment plan.
Can a functional medicine doctor diagnose?
No. Functional medicine is a systems-based, science-focused approach that can be practiced by medical doctors, naturopaths, or other licensed providers. Naturopathic medicine often emphasizes natural therapies and may avoid conventional medications. While there is overlap, functional medicine is rooted in integrating conventional and holistic strategies.
Is functional medicine the same as naturopathic medicine?
Yes, functional medicine doctors are licensed healthcare providers and can prescribe medications when necessary. They also often incorporate supplements, nutrition plans, and lifestyle interventions as part of a comprehensive treatment approach.
Do functional doctors write prescriptions?
The core belief of functional medicine is that each person’s health is unique, and that optimal wellness comes from addressing the underlying causes of illness. It emphasizes the body’s innate ability to heal itself when given the right support through nutrition, lifestyle, and targeted interventions.
What is the core belief of functional medicine?
While conventional doctors typically focus on diagnosing and treating specific diseases or symptoms, functional medicine doctors emphasize prevention, root causes, and individualized treatment plans. They often spend more time with patients to explore lifestyle, diet, stress, and environmental factors that may contribute to health issues.
What is the difference between a functional medicine doctor and a normal doctor?
A functional medicine doctor is a licensed healthcare practitioner who takes a holistic, systems-based approach to patient care. They focus on identifying and addressing the root causes of chronic illness, rather than just treating symptoms, by looking at genetics, lifestyle, environment, and nutrition alongside traditional diagnostic methods.
What exactly is a functional medicine doctor?
The best wellness shot depends on your individual health goals and needs. Vitamin B12 boosts energy and supports neurological function. Vitamin D3 supports bone health, immunity, and hormonal balance. Our functional medicine practitioner can recommend the most suitable option based on your blood tests, lifestyle, and wellness objectives.
What’s the best wellness shot?
Yes, wellness shots can be effective, particularly for individuals who have nutrient deficiencies, poor absorption, or higher nutrient needs. Because the vitamins are delivered directly into the bloodstream, the body can absorb them more efficiently than oral supplements, providing faster and more noticeable results in energy levels, immune support, and overall vitality.
Do wellness shots actually work?
Common examples include vitamin B12 injections for energy and neurological support, vitamin D3 injections for bone and immune health, glutathione injections for antioxidant and detoxification support, and NAD+ injections for cellular energy, mental clarity, and anti-aging benefits. Each formulation targets specific health goals.
What is an example of a wellness shot?
Wellness shots are intramuscular or subcutaneous shots that deliver vitamins, minerals, or other essential nutrients directly into the bloodstream. This method bypasses the digestive system, allowing for faster absorption and higher bioavailability compared to oral supplements. Wellness shots are often used to support energy, immunity, recovery, and overall wellness.
What are wellness shots?
During a session, you’ll lie comfortably on a massage table (fully clothed) while the practitioner places their hands gently on or just above specific energy centers of your body. You may feel warmth, tingling, or a gentle pulsing sensation as energy flows. Practitioners may also involve the use of various tools such as singing bowls or essential oils.
What should I expect during a Reiki session?
After a Reiki session, many people feel deeply relaxed, peaceful, and rejuvenated. Some experience a sense of lightness or emotional release. Because Reiki promotes detoxification, mild effects like increased thirst, fatigue, or vivid dreams can occur temporarily. These are signs your body is rebalancing and should resolve quickly.
What happens to your body after Reiki?
Reiki can support a wide range of physical, emotional, and spiritual concerns. It’s often used to reduce stress, anxiety, and fatigue; ease pain and tension; support recovery from illness or surgery; and promote emotional balance. Reiki is not a replacement for medical care, but it can be a powerful complementary therapy that enhances your overall sense of well-being.
What conditions can Reiki help with?
Preparation is simple. Wear comfortable clothing and arrive well-hydrated. Try to avoid caffeine or heavy meals right before your appointment so you can relax fully. Take a few deep breaths before your session and set an intention — whether it’s to reduce stress, find clarity, or simply receive healing energy.
How do I prepare for a Reiki session?
Unlike massage, Reiki does not involve muscle manipulation or pressure. Instead, it works on an energetic level, encouraging the body’s natural ability to heal itself. You remain fully clothed throughout the session, and the practitioner’s gentle hand placements aim to balance energy flow rather than target specific muscles or joints. However, Reiki and massage can be combined into a single session at Moon Rabbit.
How does Reiki differ from traditional massage?
Reiki is a gentle, energy-based healing technique that originated in Japan. It involves the practitioner placing their hands lightly on or just above the body to channel universal life energy, promoting balance and relaxation. Many people report feeling calmer, more grounded, and less stressed after a Reiki session. While scientific evidence is still developing, numerous studies and client experiences suggest Reiki can support overall well-being, reduce stress, and complement traditional medical treatments.
What is Reiki and does it really work?
Lymphatic drainage massage is not recommended for individuals with acute infections, congestive heart failure, kidney problems, blood clots, or active cancer unless approved by a healthcare provider. Always consult your doctor before beginning any new treatment if you have a medical condition.
Who should not get lymphatic massage?
Many clients notice results within 24 to 48 hours, such as reduced bloating, lighter limbs, or improved skin tone. For ongoing conditions or post-surgical recovery, a series of sessions may be needed to achieve and maintain optimal results.
How quickly does a lymphatic drainage massage work?
Most people experience only positive effects, such as relaxation and reduced swelling. However, mild side effects like increased urination, thirst, or temporary fatigue may occur as the body eliminates toxins. These effects typically resolve within a day or two.
What are the side effects of lymphatic massage?
Signs that you may benefit from lymphatic drainage include frequent bloating, water retention, fatigue, sluggishness, puffy skin, or recurring colds. People with a sedentary lifestyle, poor circulation, or post-surgical swelling also commonly benefit from this therapy.
How to tell if you need a lymphatic drainage massage?
The frequency depends on your individual goals and health condition. For general wellness, once or twice a month is often sufficient. If you’re recovering from surgery, dealing with chronic swelling, or undergoing detox, your therapist may recommend weekly sessions until balance is restored.
How often should you get lymphatic drainage?
A lymphatic drainage massage is a gentle, rhythmic technique that helps stimulate the flow of lymph fluid throughout the body. It supports the removal of toxins, reduces swelling, promotes circulation, and can enhance the immune system. This type of massage is often used after surgery, during detox programs, or to relieve fluid retention.
What does a lymphatic drainage massage do?
Yes, the natural minerals in Himalayan salt can help nourish and gently exfoliate the skin during a massage. Salt stone massage may improve skin texture, promote circulation, and leave the skin feeling soft, smooth, and revitalized.
Is salt stone massage good for the skin?
Heated pink Himalayan salt stones provide soothing warmth that penetrates deep into muscle tissue, helping to relieve stiffness, knots, and tension. The minerals in the salt, such as magnesium and potassium, may also help support muscle relaxation and recovery.
What does pink Himalayan salt do for muscles?
Frequency depends on your needs and wellness goals. For general relaxation and stress relief, once every 2–4 weeks is sufficient. If you’re targeting muscle tension or chronic discomfort, weekly sessions may provide more consistent benefits until your muscles are fully relaxed and balanced.
How often should I get a salt stone massage?
Himalayan salt stone massage combines the benefits of heated salt stones with therapeutic massage techniques. The warm stones help relax muscles, improve circulation, relieve tension, and promote deep relaxation. The natural minerals in the salt are also believed to support detoxification and overall well-being.
What does Himalayan salt stone massage do?
The timing depends on your menstrual cycle and fertility goals. Many practitioners recommend scheduling sessions in the pre-ovulation (follicular) phase to support egg development and after menstruation to prepare the uterus. Regular sessions — often 1–2 times per week — are typically suggested for several months to optimize fertility outcomes.
When is the best time to get a fertility massage?
Castor oil packs are often used to support reproductive health. To apply, soak a clean cloth in castor oil, place it over the lower abdomen, cover with plastic wrap, and apply gentle heat (like a heating pad) for 20–30 minutes. This may help increase circulation, reduce inflammation, and support lymphatic drainage in the reproductive organs. Always follow a practitioner’s guidance for safe and effective use.
How to apply castor oil for fertility?
While a massage cannot directly trigger ovulation, fertility massage may help regulate menstrual cycles by improving blood flow to the reproductive organs and reducing stress, which can positively influence hormone balance. Many clients notice more regular cycles and improved reproductive health as part of a holistic fertility plan.
Can a massage make you ovulate?
Supporting fertility involves a combination of lifestyle, nutrition, and overall wellness and health care. Key approaches include maintaining a balanced diet, staying hydrated, managing stress, exercising moderately, getting adequate sleep, and avoiding toxins. Complementary therapies like fertility massage and acupuncture can improve circulation and hormonal balance to create a more fertile environment.
How can I make my body more fertile to get pregnant?
Fertility massage is a specialized massage technique that focuses on the reproductive organs, lower back, abdomen, and pelvis. It uses gentle, targeted pressure, lymphatic stimulation, and specific techniques to improve blood flow, reduce tension, and encourage healthy reproductive function. Many practitioners also incorporate relaxation methods and stress-reducing techniques to support overall fertility.
How is fertility massage done?
The frequency depends on your comfort and needs. Many expectant mothers benefit from every 2–4 weeks, though those experiencing higher levels of discomfort or swelling may choose weekly sessions. Your therapist can create a schedule tailored to your pregnancy and wellness goals.
How often should I go for prenatal massage?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing and use the restroom beforehand. Avoid eating a heavy meal right before your session. Let your therapist know about any medical conditions, pregnancy complications, or discomforts so they can adjust the massage accordingly. Hydration before and after the session is also recommended.
How to prepare for a prenatal massage?
Prenatal massage is generally considered safe up until delivery, though techniques and positioning will change as your pregnancy progresses. Special support pillows and positioning help ensure comfort and safety in the third trimester.
What is the week limit for prenatal massage?
The first trimester is a critical period for fetal development, and the risk of complications, such as miscarriage, is naturally higher. Many practitioners avoid massage during this time as a precaution. After the first trimester, prenatal massage is considered safe when performed by a trained therapist.
Why is prenatal massage not allowed in the first trimester?
Prenatal massages are generally recommended starting in the second trimester (around 14 weeks) when the risk of complications decreases and the pregnancy is more stable. Your practitioner will tailor the massage to your stage of pregnancy to ensure safety and comfort for both you and your baby.
When should you start getting prenatal massages?
Yes. Massage therapy works by relaxing tight muscles, improving blood flow, and stimulating the nervous system. This helps reduce physical tension, alleviate discomfort, and improve flexibility and mobility. Many clients report feeling both physically and mentally lighter after a session.
Do massages actually release tension?
Pros: Relieves muscle tension, reduces stress, improves circulation, promotes relaxation, supports recovery, and enhances overall well-being.
Cons: Temporary soreness, mild bruising, or fatigue may occur. Massage may not be suitable for certain medical conditions (e.g., blood clots, severe infections) unless approved by a healthcare provider.
What are the pros and cons of massage therapy?
Massage therapy offers a variety of techniques to meet different wellness needs. Swedish massage is ideal for relaxation and stress relief, using long, gentle strokes to calm the body and improve circulation. Deep tissue massage targets chronic muscle tension and knots, working deeper into the muscles to relieve discomfort and improve mobility. Prenatal massage is specifically designed to ease pregnancy-related aches and support the changing body safely. Fertility-focused massage helps promote reproductive health by improving blood flow to the pelvic region, reducing tension, and supporting hormonal balance. Sports massage is geared toward athletes or active individuals, aiding in recovery, preventing injuries, and enhancing performance. Lymphatic drainage massage stimulates the lymphatic system to reduce swelling, improve circulation, and support detoxification, contributing to overall health and wellness.
What type of massage is best?
The frequency of massages depends on your needs and wellness goals. For general relaxation and stress relief, once every 2–4 weeks is usually sufficient. For chronic pain, muscle tension, or recovery from injury, weekly sessions or even more frequent visits may be recommended until symptoms improve, followed by a maintenance schedule.
How often should you get massages?
Orthopedic acupuncture is generally well tolerated, and most people find it far less uncomfortable than they expect. The needles are very thin, so insertion is usually minimal or barely noticeable. Because this style often targets muscles and trigger points, you may feel a brief ache, twitch, or dull pressure when a point is activated. This is normal and often a sign the treatment is working. Any sensation typically fades quickly, leaving a feeling of relief or relaxation.
Does orthopedic acupuncture hurt?
The number of orthopedic acupuncture sessions you need depends on your condition, how long you’ve had it, and how your body responds to treatment. Acute issues may improve in just a few visits, while chronic or more complex conditions often require a series of treatments over several weeks. Many patients begin with 1–2 sessions per week and then taper as symptoms improve. Your practitioner will create a personalized plan and adjust it based on your progress.
How many sessions of orthopedic acupuncture do I need?
Orthopedic acupuncture and dry needling are similar in that both use thin needles to target muscles and relieve pain, but they are not the same. Orthopedic acupuncture is rooted in traditional acupuncture and also incorporates modern anatomical techniques, allowing it to address both localized pain and overall body balance. Dry needling, on the other hand, is based primarily on Western medicine principles and focuses specifically on releasing tight muscles and trigger points.
Is orthopedic acupuncture the same thing as dry needling?
Orthopedic acupuncture differs from regular acupuncture mainly in its emphasis, not in abandoning whole-body care. While it uses the same traditional principles to support overall balance and wellness, it places a stronger focus on the musculoskeletal system, targeting specific muscles, joints, and movement patterns. Practitioners combine meridian-based treatment with modern anatomical techniques to relieve pain, improve mobility, and support both local recovery and whole-body health.
How does orthopedic acupuncture differ from regular acupuncture?
Orthopedic acupuncture is a specialized form of acupuncture focused on diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal conditions such as joint pain, muscle injuries, tendonitis, and nerve-related issues. It combines traditional acupuncture principles with modern knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics, and physical medicine. Practitioners often target specific muscles, trigger points, and motor points to relieve pain, improve mobility, reduce inflammation, and support the body’s natural healing process. Many people seek orthopedic acupuncture for sports injuries, chronic pain, postural imbalances, and rehabilitation support.
What is orthopedic acupuncture?
Ear seeds typically remain in place for 3–7 days. During this time, you may gently press the seeds 1–3 times daily. Though pressing then is not necessary for them to work. After the seeds fall off or are removed, new ones can be applied as needed either by using your Moon Rabbit ear seed kit or by one of our practitioners.
How often should you do ear seeds?
Activation involves gently pressing or massaging the seeds for 1–2 minutes several times a day. This stimulates the point, enhancing the therapeutic effect. Avoid pressing too hard, and discontinue if you experience pain or irritation.
How to activate ear seeds?
Yes, our Moon Rabbit ear seeding kits come with a how-to guide to help you understand exactly where to place your ear seeds to help with various conditions including stress, digestion, pain, and overall well-being.
Can you do ear seeds at home?
Many people report positive results from ear seeding, such as reduced anxiety, improved sleep, and decreased cravings or pain. While scientific evidence is growing, ear seeding is generally considered a safe, non-invasive complementary therapy that supports the body’s natural healing processes.
Does ear seeding actually work?
Ear seeding, also known as auricular therapy, is a technique in traditional Chinese medicine where small seeds, beads, or magnets are placed on specific points of the ear to stimulate the body’s energy pathways. These points correspond to different organs or systems in the body and can help balance energy, reduce stress, and support overall health. At Moon Rabbit, we use 24K gold and Swarovski crystal ear seeds to not only have you feeling great, but looking great too.
What is the meaning of ear seeding?
Yes, it’s recommended to use a facial oil, serum, or moisturizer during gua sha. This provides enough slip for the tool to glide smoothly over the skin, preventing irritation or tugging, while also nourishing and hydrating your skin for enhanced results.
Do I need to use anything with gua sha?
Yes, gua sha can help release tension in tight muscles, particularly in the neck, shoulders, and jaw. By increasing blood flow and gently stretching the fascia, it helps reduce stiffness, improve mobility, and relieve discomfort from muscle knots.
Does gua sha release muscle knots?
Gua sha can help improve skin elasticity and promote circulation, which may temporarily reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also helps relax facial muscles, giving the skin a smoother and more lifted appearance over time. Results are gradual and work best when combined with regular skincare and hydration.
Can gua sha reduce wrinkles?
To use gua sha safely and effectively, hold the tool at a 15–30 degree angle against the skin and gently glide it in upward and outward motions. Start with light pressure, especially on delicate facial areas, and follow the contours of your muscles. Consistent practice with the proper oil and technique are key to maximizing results.
How to use gua sha correctly?
Gua sha is a traditional Chinese technique that uses a smooth-edged tool to scrape the skin gently, promoting circulation and lymphatic drainage. It helps relieve tension, reduce puffiness, and encourage the body’s natural healing processes. When used on the face, it can enhance blood flow, improve skin tone, and support a healthy, radiant complexion.
What does a gua sha actually do?
After a cupping session, avoid showers, saunas, strenuous exercise, and alcohol for at least 24 hours. Keep the cupped area covered, clean, and moisturized, and allow your body to rest so it can fully benefit from the therapy.
What not to do after cupping?
Fire cupping uses heat to create a vacuum inside the cup, whereas regular (or suction) cupping relies on manual pumps or silicone cups to generate suction. Both methods increase blood flow and release tension, but fire cupping may produce stronger suction and more pronounced marks.
What is the difference between fire cupping and regular cupping?
While fire cupping does not literally “detox” the body, it can help improve circulation and lymphatic drainage, which supports the body’s natural ability to remove metabolic waste and reduce inflammation. Many people report feeling lighter and more relaxed after a session.
Does fire cupping remove toxins?
Fire cupping is a traditional therapy that uses heated glass cups to create suction on the skin. This suction helps increase blood flow, release muscle tension, reduce pain, and promote relaxation. It can also stimulate the lymphatic system and support overall healing and energy flow in the body.
What does fire cupping do?
Dark cupping marks indicate areas of stagnation, tension, or minor circulation issues. The darkness reflects how much blood and fluids have been drawn to the surface to promote healing. These marks are temporary, usually fading within 3–10 days.
Why is my cupping so dark?
Yes, cupping can help release muscle knots and tight fascia. The suction draws blood flow to the area, relaxes tension, and encourages muscles and connective tissue to loosen, improving mobility and reducing discomfort.
Does cupping break up knots?
Cupping and massage serve different purposes and often complement each other. Massage focuses on kneading muscles and relieving tension through direct pressure, while cupping uses suction to increase circulation and release deeper muscle and fascial restrictions. Many clients benefit from combining both therapies for maximum relief.
Is cupping better than massage?
Arrive hydrated and avoid heavy meals or alcohol before your session. Wear comfortable clothing that allows access to the areas being treated, and communicate any injuries, health conditions, or sensitivities to your practitioner to ensure safe and effective treatment.
What to do before cupping?
Frequency depends on your goals and body’s response. For general wellness or stress relief, once every 2–4 weeks is common. For acute pain, tight muscles, or chronic tension, sessions may be scheduled weekly until improvements are seen, followed by maintenance visits as needed.
How often should you do cupping?
Cupping therapy uses suction cups on the skin to increase blood flow, reduce muscle tension, and promote relaxation. It stimulates circulation, encourages lymphatic drainage, and can help relieve pain, stiffness, and inflammation. Many clients also report feeling lighter and more energized after a session.
What does cupping actually do?
Side effects are very rare and typically mild when acupuncture is performed by a licensed professional. Some children may experience slight bruising, temporary tiredness, or mild soreness at the needle site, which usually resolves quickly. Serious side effects are extremely uncommon.
Are there any negative side effects to acupuncture?
Acupuncture can help calm the nervous system, reduce stress hormones, and promote relaxation, making it a valuable tool for children who experience anxiety, trouble sleeping, or emotional sensitivity. Regular sessions can support emotional balance and resilience over time.
Can acupuncture help anxiety in children?
Not usually. Acupuncture needles are extremely thin — about the width of a human hair — and most children feel little to no pain. They may experience a brief tingling, warmth, or heaviness at the needle site, which usually fades within seconds. Many kids even fall asleep during treatment.
Is acupuncture painful for kids?
When performed by a licensed practitioner, acupuncture is very safe for children. Pediatric acupuncture uses gentle techniques and sterile, single-use needles. Most children find the sessions relaxing and enjoyable once they become familiar with the process.
Is acupuncture safe for children?
Yes, acupuncture may help children with ADHD by calming the nervous system, improving focus, and supporting emotional regulation. It’s often used alongside behavioral therapy and other treatments to reduce hyperactivity, restlessness, and anxiety while promoting overall balance and well-being.
Can acupuncture help kids with ADHD?
Acupuncture can be safely performed on people of all ages — including infants, children, and teens — when provided by a licensed practitioner. The treatment approach and technique are always adjusted for the child’s age and comfort level, often using fewer and smaller needles or even non-needle methods such as gentle acupressure or laser stimulation.
What age is appropriate for acupuncture?
Both phases are important for different reasons. Before ovulation, acupuncture supports follicle development and optimal blood flow to the uterus. After ovulation, it helps calm the nervous system, improve uterine lining receptivity, and encourage implantation. A personalized treatment plan will usually include sessions in both phases for the best results.
Is acupuncture better before or after ovulation?
Acupuncture may help improve egg quality indirectly by enhancing blood circulation to the ovaries and balancing reproductive hormones. This can create a healthier environment for follicle growth. While results vary, many fertility specialists recommend acupuncture as a complementary therapy during IVF preparation and stimulation phases.
Can acupuncture increase the quality of eggs for IVF?
We recommend checking your insurance benefits and our updated pricing to see how much your fertility acupuncture will cost.
How much does fertility acupuncture cost?
The ideal timing depends on your menstrual cycle and fertility goals. Generally, starting acupuncture 2–3 months before trying to conceive or beginning fertility treatments can help prepare your body. During your cycle, sessions are often tailored to each phase — for example, before ovulation to promote follicle development and after ovulation to support implantation.
What is the best time to get acupuncture for fertility?
Yes, acupuncture has been shown to support fertility by improving blood flow to the reproductive organs, regulating hormones, reducing stress, and promoting overall balance in the body. While it isn’t a guaranteed treatment for infertility, many individuals and couples use it alongside conventional fertility treatments (like IVF or IUI) to enhance their chances of conception.
Does acupuncture actually work for fertility?
No, cosmetic acupuncture and microneedling are different treatments, but they work in similar ways. Microneedling creates uniform micro-injuries across the skin to drive a strong collagen repair response; cosmetic acupuncture uses very fine needles at targeted points to produce gentler, point-specific micro-stimulation while also engaging the nervous system, lymphatics and meridians for internal wellness. I often describe cosmetic acupuncture as “microneedling light + internal health boosting,” because feeling good makes you look good.
Is cosmetic acupuncture the same as microneedling?
Arrive with a clean face free of makeup or heavy skincare products. Eat a light meal beforehand to avoid feeling faint, and stay hydrated. Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and intense physical activity before your appointment to ensure your body is calm and receptive to treatment.
How to prepare for cosmetic acupuncture?
After cosmetic acupuncture, avoid anything that provokes big temperature or circulation swings, irritates freshly-treated skin, or increases bleeding and bruising. Cosmetic acupuncture has virtually no downtime — most people can go about their day and look their best right away — but avoid makeup, rubbing or massaging the face, heavy exercise, alcohol, saunas/hot baths, and strong exfoliants for 24–72 hours.
What not to do after cosmetic acupuncture?
For optimal results, most clients begin with 1–2 sessions per week for about 5–10 treatments. After the initial phase, maintenance sessions are recommended every month or as needed to preserve your rejuvenated appearance.
How many sessions of cosmetic acupuncture do you need?
Results vary by individual, but improvements in skin tone and texture are typically visible after 5–10 sessions. Once you complete an initial series, maintenance treatments every 4–6 weeks can help sustain your results. With consistent care, benefits can last several months or longer.
How long do cosmetic acupuncture results last?
Cosmetic acupuncture and Botox work in very different ways. Botox temporarily paralyzes and freezes facial muscles to smooth wrinkles, while cosmetic acupuncture encourages your body’s natural healing response to improve skin tone and texture over time. Many people prefer acupuncture because it’s holistic, chemical-free, and enhances overall wellness rather than only targeting specific lines.
Is cosmetic acupuncture better than Botox?
Cosmetic acupuncture, also known as facial rejuvenation acupuncture, is a natural, non-invasive treatment that uses fine needles to stimulate collagen production, improve circulation, and tone facial muscles. It helps reduce fine lines, puffiness, and dullness while promoting a healthy, youthful glow from within.
What is cosmetic acupuncture?
Acupuncture can support a wide range of conditions, including chronic and acute pain such as neck, back, joint, and headache pain. It is also effective in addressing stress, anxiety, and insomnia, as well as digestive issues and hormonal imbalances. Many people turn to acupuncture for relief from allergies and sinus problems, fertility challenges, and menstrual irregularities. In addition, it can aid in post-surgical recovery and help reduce fatigue. Beyond treating specific conditions, acupuncture is widely used to promote overall balance, relaxation, and preventive wellness.
What conditions can be treated by acupuncture?
Acupuncture is generally safe when performed by a licensed practitioner, but it may not be suitable for everyone. People with bleeding disorders, pacemakers, or severe needle phobia should consult their doctor first. Pregnant individuals should also notify their acupuncturist that they are pregnant. Acupuncturists are trained to support you throught your fertility and health journeys.
Who should not use acupuncture?
Common signs include better sleep, improved mood, reduced pain, better digestion, and more stable energy levels. Some people notice immediate relief, while others see gradual improvements over several sessions. Feeling relaxed or pleasantly tired after treatment is also a normal sign that your body is responding.
What are the signs acupuncture is working?
Yes, a growing body of research supports acupuncture’s effectiveness for various conditions — especially chronic pain, migraines, nausea, and anxiety. While results can vary, many medical institutions recognize acupuncture as a beneficial complementary therapy that works by influencing the body’s nervous, circulatory, and immune systems.
Is it proven that acupuncture works?
The frequency depends on your condition and goals. For acute issues such as pain or stress, 1–2 sessions per week are common at the beginning. Once symptoms improve, treatments can be spaced out to every 2–4 weeks for maintenance and prevention. Your acupuncturist will design a plan tailored to your needs.
How often should you get acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves inserting very fine needles into specific points on the body to restore balance and promote natural healing. It helps improve circulation, reduce inflammation, regulate the nervous system, and release endorphins — the body’s natural painkillers. Many people use acupuncture for pain relief, stress reduction, and overall wellness support.
