Cosmetic Acupuncture

Also known as facial rejuvenation acupuncture, this treatment helps keep your skin looking as youthful as your spirit.

Often described as a natural alternative to Botox, cosmetic acupuncture is a non-invasive treatment that helps soften fine lines, improve skin tone, address acne and inflammation, and support a natural, healthy glow.

Each session concludes with traditional facial rolling, Gua Sha, or cupping. ProStim Light Therapy for anti-aging or acne support is also included. A series of 10 sessions is recommended.

Cosmetic Acupuncture

The Benefits

Cosmetic acupuncture is a gentle, holistic approach to enhancing appearance by improving muscle tone, reducing tension, and supporting healthy aging from within. Patients often experience both subtle immediate refreshment and deeper long-term changes as the face and body come into greater harmony.

Eye Puffiness

Cosmetic acupuncture can help reduce the appearance of under-eye bags by supporting circulation and lymphatic drainage in the delicate eye area.

Full-Body Support

Cosmetic acupuncture includes treatment of the entire body, addressing internal patterns that influence skin health so results reflect balance from the inside out.

Skin Tone

Ongoing care can help improve overall tone and brightness, supporting a more even and refreshed complexion.

Fine Line Reduction

Cosmetic acupuncture helps relax overactive facial muscles while supporting weaker areas, which can soften the appearance of fine lines.

Collagen Support

By stimulating the skin at precise points, cosmetic acupuncture encourages the body’s natural collagen and elastin production.

Facial Circulation

Cosmetic acupuncture supports healthy blood flow to the face, helping deliver oxygen and nutrients that nourish the skin.

Your first visit begins with a thorough, one-on-one conversation about your health history, lifestyle, and current priorities. We take a broader view beyond individual symptoms to explore patterns in sleep, digestion, stress, pain, energy, and more, and how these systems influence one another.

This in-depth intake helps us build a care plan that feels thoughtful, personalized, and specifically aligned with your needs, addressing not just your cosmetic goals, but your body as a whole.

Initial Appointment

Each cosmetic acupuncture session is thoughtfully tailored to support facial rejuvenation and long-term skin health. Fine needles are placed at targeted facial acupuncture points to improve circulation, stimulate collagen production, and enhance muscle tone, while additional points on the body help support a more holistic, full-body approach.

Every session also includes anti-aging or anti-acne light therapy, with other supportive services added as needed to promote relaxation and overall balance.

Cosmetic acupuncture provides a calm, restorative experience that encourages a brighter complexion, smoother skin, and natural, healthy aging from within

Treatment

Acupuncture is most effective when approached as ongoing support rather than a single appointment. With each visit, care evolves based on how your body is responding, helping encourage continued balance, regulation, and long-term resilience.

After sessions, it’s common to feel deeply relaxed, energized, or slightly tired as the body begins integrating the work. Staying hydrated, eating nourishing meals, and allowing space for rest can help support this process.

Over time, consistent care helps reinforce stability across body systems and creates a stronger foundation for lasting wellness.

The Science Behind Cosmetic Acupuncture

Cosmetic acupuncture stimulates nerve-rich areas of the face, activating the nervous system pathways that influence muscle tone and skin function. This targeted stimulation helps relax overactive facial muscles, support balanced muscle activity, and promote healthier communication between the nerves and facial tissues.

The insertion of fine needles into the face increases local blood circulation, delivering oxygen and essential nutrients to the skin. Improved circulation supports collagen and elastin production, enhances skin tone and texture, reduces puffiness, and helps the body clear metabolic waste for a brighter, more refreshed appearance.

Cosmetic acupuncture activates the nervous system and local immune responses, encouraging the release of growth factors and regulatory neurochemicals involved in skin repair and renewal. These effects help reduce inflammation, support natural healing, ease facial tension, and promote relaxation, contributing to both aesthetic improvements and overall well-being.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, cosmetic acupuncture and microneedling are different treatments, but they work in similar ways. Microneedling creates uniform micro-injuries across the skin to drive a strong collagen repair response; cosmetic acupuncture uses very fine needles at targeted points to produce gentler, point-specific micro-stimulation while also engaging the nervous system, lymphatics and meridians for internal wellness. I often describe cosmetic acupuncture as “microneedling light + internal health boosting,” because feeling good makes you look good.

Is cosmetic acupuncture the same as microneedling?

Arrive with a clean face free of makeup or heavy skincare products. Eat a light meal beforehand to avoid feeling faint, and stay hydrated. Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and intense physical activity before your appointment to ensure your body is calm and receptive to treatment.

How to prepare for cosmetic acupuncture?

After cosmetic acupuncture, avoid anything that provokes big temperature or circulation swings, irritates freshly-treated skin, or increases bleeding and bruising. Cosmetic acupuncture has virtually no downtime — most people can go about their day and look their best right away — but avoid makeup, rubbing or massaging the face, heavy exercise, alcohol, saunas/hot baths, and strong exfoliants for 24–72 hours.

What not to do after cosmetic acupuncture?

For optimal results, most clients begin with 1–2 sessions per week for about 5–10 treatments. After the initial phase, maintenance sessions are recommended every month or as needed to preserve your rejuvenated appearance.

How many sessions of cosmetic acupuncture do you need?

Results vary by individual, but improvements in skin tone and texture are typically visible after 5–10 sessions. Once you complete an initial series, maintenance treatments every 4–6 weeks can help sustain your results. With consistent care, benefits can last several months or longer.

How long do cosmetic acupuncture results last?

Cosmetic acupuncture and Botox work in very different ways. Botox temporarily paralyzes and freezes facial muscles to smooth wrinkles, while cosmetic acupuncture encourages your body’s natural healing response to improve skin tone and texture over time. Many people prefer acupuncture because it’s holistic, chemical-free, and enhances overall wellness rather than only targeting specific lines.

Is cosmetic acupuncture better than Botox?

Cosmetic acupuncture, also known as facial rejuvenation acupuncture, is a natural, non-invasive treatment that uses fine needles to stimulate collagen production, improve circulation, and tone facial muscles. It helps reduce fine lines, puffiness, and dullness while promoting a healthy, youthful glow from within.

What if I miss my appointment?

Yes, eating something before your appointment, even a small snack, is always recommended.

Should I eat before an acupuncture appointment?

Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles (30 times thinner than the traditional needle you experience at your physician’s office) at strategic points on the body.  Most people believe that acupuncture only treats pain; however, it has a myriad of other uses, including overall wellness, stress management, and fertility support.

From an Eastern perspective, acupuncture is a technique for balancing the flow of qi (pronounced chee), or energy, which flows through meridians in your body.  By inserting needles into specific points along these meridians, acupuncture re-establishes balance for overall health and wellbeing.

Alternatively, the Western perspective is that acupuncture stimulates nerves, muscles, and fascia (connective tissue) to reduce pain and treat tension.  Acupuncture treatment can help the body release a spasmed muscle or interrupt the signal of pain. From a biochemical perspective, findings from research have demonstrated that acupuncture stimulation causes a release of endorphins, serotonin, enkephalins, and γ-amino-butyric acid (GABA; a major inhibitory neurotransmitter of the brain), norepinephrine, and dopamine, other studies have also demonstrated that acupuncture can treat insomnia, as well as support conception through Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART), such as IVF.   Acupuncture has also been demonstrated to increase blood flow, aid in circulation, improve sleep and ease mental health concerns.
